“Our lives are filled with so many external distractions that we often forget to turn inwards and explore the very vessel via which we experience life’s journey; our bodies”

Spanning over 20 years, my career as an established dance teacher and fitness instructor has provided me with the skills to train both individuals and groups, ranging from beginners to advanced students, drawing on first-hand knowledge of the qualities needed to achieve a high standard in both fields. I have collaborated with leading national and international dance artists and musicians, performed and taught dance and fitness in Australia, Asia and Europe, and dedicated much time to being a student myself.

My classical ballet training (RAD) began when I was five years old. I attended the Susan Taylor School of Ballet (currently Terry Simpson Studios) in Adelaide and later attended the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) where I was awarded a Bachelor of Dance, Post Graduate Diploma and Masters in Choreography. During my years of study, I also practised yoga and Pilates, both of which enabled me to further develop finely-tuned motor skills and a strong, supple body.

As a facilitator, I seek to impart the knowledge gained through my studies and professional experience as a dancer and teacher. My objective is to assist students in achieving their goals by guiding them through programs that combine bodily-kineasthetic awareness with technical skill and mental focus. In my opinion, these three principles form the basis of physical mastery and are also imperative when seeking to fully engage in what are today referred to as 'mind-body' practices.

Drawing upon diverse teaching methods, I have understood that every individual is unique and should be taught accordingly. Although many students attending my classes will learn the same exercises, my attention is directed towards discovering individual abilities and needs. In doing so, I am able to give appropriate feedback so that each student can safely engage in a positive training experience.

I am honoured to work in both the dance and fitness industry; it enables me to help people develop physical and mental strength whilst further enhancing their mind-body relationship and creative expression. I consider myself fortunate to have learnt a great deal from many celebrated and wonderful teachers and continue to learn from my students - it is they who enable me to continue working and bless me with great fulfilment.
