Dancers require a high degree of general fitness if they are to achieve optimal results. To improve performance levels and avoid muscular imbalances, that may prohibit the body from working holistically and potentially lead to injury, serious dance practitioners engage in a wide range of cross-training methods.
Fitness components fundamental to developing a strong and safe dance practice include: muscular strength, muscular endurance, co-ordination, body alignment and elasticity - all of which should ideally be trained whilst maintaining sound breathing practices. Conditioning for Dancers is designed to enhance these five key areas of fitness by incorporating body weight exercises that have foundations in Pilates, yoga and personal training principles.
